My cpu should be running @ 2400 as I set it in the bios to 300 x 8 but in cpu-id it says x6=1700 odd and on other cpu speed testers it shows the speed at 2792mghz and not sure why its the machine in my sig, any help appreciated please.

I have the bios set to 310 x 8 and on my uguru external clock it shows it @ 2480mghz, on cpu-z it shows it idle @ 6x but if i mess it goes to 9x 310 for a few seconds lol, as I am new to overclocking I don't really understand I thought it would only go max 8x..thanks for commenting and any further help appreciated.
Regards, Wayne..

Thank you to both of you, I noticed that the speed and multiplyer go up with cpu demand, I have re set it to default 9x 266, but my bio has never been updated from buying the board 2 years ago, would a bios update do anything for me or just leave alone, I am putting better ram in it and wanted to go quad core..
Regards, Wayne..
