Hi All
I just installed an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E6600 with a Gigabyte 965P-DS3 board. Everytime i turn my computer on, the stock cpu fan is not turning. It seems to try to turn but doesnt. This goes on for about 2 minutes and then it fan starts turning. I was just wondering if this is normal for this pcu fan? Once it starts, it doesnt stop.
Can anyone recommend a good fan for my cpu that works well with my board?
Also which software is good to monitor the speed and temp of my cpu fan?
Thanks

PS: I feel like crap as i ask for advice all the time here, but never know enough to help anyone else :(

The BIOS is probably set to control the fan speed depending on cpu temperature, and it would appear that on startup the temp is so low that the voltage provided to the fan is not enough to cause a revolution. After awhile the temp goes up and so does voltage to the fan, giving it enough to turn, would'nt worry too much if it cools ok.

You can use EasyTune 5 from the gigabyte CD to measure the speed. I Use use Intel TAT to measure the temps of the cores. Though every program tends to give different readings. Try turning off the automatic fan control in the bios and the fan should run fully. You can always set it back again.

Go into the BIOS > PC Health Status > Fan Speed Control, and set it to Disabled if you want the fan to run full speed all the time, or use legacy (Which i use on my Freezer 7 pro) which will make it spin all the time also, but not full speed, it will pickup/slowdown speed depending on what your CPU is doing. :)
