Intel e6600 worth the extra £100 over e6300?

I bet its been asked before but....

Is it really worth paying the £100 extra for the 6600 over the 6300, I have seen the 6300's going crazy and over 3Ghz fairly well and im not sure if i could get more with the 6600. Im only doing air cooling tho. Opinons?

I know the 6600 roughly does the same OC level,so what would you chaps recommend for bang for buck?

Im after a fast 3d rendering machine and I need mobo,cpu and ram(pref a lot of ram). For around £350-400 (maybe slightly more).

What would you guys recommend for a good selection to help me achieve a good OC machine?

Oh right, I had no idea that would affect performance, Thanks for the reply mate .

As im not in need of this new machine right this minute (maybe a month or so max) do you think waiting for the Quad core Kentsfield would be worth waiting to aid better in rendering?

Ahhh, I didnt realise they were going to be quite so expensive. I think as a student it may just be slightly out of my price range then hehe.

I think I might just go out and buy the 6300 and as much ram as I can afford (2Gb to start with) later in the year, it is sure to last me quite a long time.

In ** opinion do you reckon it would be much of an increase over my godly Opteron 146? Worth the upgrade you think? Maybe Dual Core might be a nice idea.
