Has anyone here got the Intel E6700 3.2GHz CPU? I'm just wondering whether it's a good processor or should I look for something better?

You really need to give more info.
Are you looking to upgrade?, if so from what?, is this the CPU you have now?, budget?, are you looking to upgrade to this? etc...

Sorry, I did the post in a bit of a rush before going to bed lol.

My current PC is as follows:
Gigabyte P35-DS3P
Intel E5200 @ 2.5GHz
4GB Ram (2GB of which is getting unreliable)
500GB Hard Drive
nVidia 8800GT 512MB Graphics
LG SATA DVD ReWriter

I've basically offered a friend in need the CPU out of my PC so I'm looking for an upgrade (original thought was a new build but can't really justify it so a new CPU and SSD might be better).

The CPU I'm looking at is the Intel Pentium Dual Core E6700 @ 3.2GHz

It's essentially the same processor as the e5200 but with a higher fsb & lower multiplier.
If you clocked the e5200 to 3.2ghz the performance would be near identical.

I take it you're not a fan of overclocking then? Q6600s at 2.4GHz aren't great, push them up to 3.2GHz+ and you've got yourself a nice little chip.

Nope, not a fan of overclocking - I've had problems in the past. I once had my Q6600 clocked at 3.4GHz and it was great but started to have problems. Adjusted it to 3GHz, still had problems (think it's the motherboard) so got it back to 2.4Ghz in a Dell Dimension PC now.

Well what's your budget? Your motherboard can take pretty much any 775 chip. If you don't mind going 2nd hand you might be able to get a good deal on a Q9550. An E8400 would also be pretty fast if you want to stick with a dual core. The E8400 has 6MB cache instead of the 2MB you get on the Pentium.

Also if you want some tips/help on overclocking then don't be afraid to ask. You've got a Gigabyte P35 board so it shouldn't be _that_ bad at overclocking really.
