Intel E6850 Retail Box - 4Ghz On Air

It depends, what do you use your computer for?

At the minute video encoding and audio manipulation to create DVDs for schools and clubs. I really struggle at the moment with an Athlon XP 2100+ overclocked to 2Ghz but never had the cash until now to upgrade.

I think you'll have to wait a bit longer for reviews on the E6750 & E6550's. I have only seen Engineering Samples available on those, so not really typical.

I dont go for this ORTHOS stable stuff. Stable to me is daily use and the wife playing games for hours on end...

But, I've yet to see a 4ghz ORTHOS stable for 8-12 hours on air for one of these retail chips, I've not seen a retail one do 8hrs ORTHOS stable over 3.6ghz. I would get overly excited right now, and there are plenty of e6600's that run at the same speeds with the same volts on air...

So you are saying that 4 cores running at 3.2Ghz is better than 2 cores running at 3.6Ghz?

If youre using an application that utilises 4 cores then yes! Other wise, no. Single core apps work faster with higher clock speeds.

Anyway, where did that question come from ??? LOL

From my head! :) I was just trying to get an idea of the difference between core speed and number of cores available.

At the moment, due to the very few apps that support more than 2 cores, C2D are the best bang for buck. Unless you utilise all 4 cores in those very few apps, Quads are for 'willy waving!' :)

Mine you if you had a quad, you could always burn a dvd, decode some video, encode some sound whilst playing HL2...
