Hey Guys

Long time since I was on here.

I took a break from my build, and have now finished it within the last hour or so.

So I installed Windows 7, and began installing the drivers.

I installed my GPU drivers (ATI 4870) and began the Asus P5Q Se Plus drivers, but my temps hit 70c, is this normal? I was told if it hits 70 I should shut it off.

I'm using the stock cooler, with stock thermal paste. Should I invest in better?

Cheers

Ben

all stock coolers are usually glorified paper weights. I've got my E8500 overclocked to 3.8GHz at 30 degrees and it's still using a zalman 9900. since overclocking my cpu my temps haven't increased.

Ahh okay

I reseated it, and temps stayed at 39c when running driver installers, and when running a game or two :)

Going to order that Zalman as soon as I can afford too.

Its idling at 39c atm, tbh that seems quite high for idle :/

Thank You Sylver :)

Would I be better off investing in a new cooler anyway? So the temps stay down when under load?

If your planning on overclocking the processor to get the most out of you system then i would purchase a much better cooler than the stock one.

Before ordering a new cooler, i would suggest ask for recommendations on a good overclocking cooler in the Overclocking & Cooling section of the forum.
