I'm about to put together an HTPC with the following components:

CPU - intel G1610
Mobo - Asrock H77 Pro-4 M
RAM - 4GB crucial DDR3 1333MHz/PC3-10600 Memory Kit CL9 1.5V
HD 2500 graphics via the CPU
PSU - Antec VP 350W
Case - Antec Veris fusion remote black

The case has a couple of fans drawing air across the mobo and out right next to the CPU. In my old set up with an AMD 4050e and a scythe shiruken I didn't have a fan over the HS and temps were fine. New set up is going to be the intel CPU and stock cooler. I want to keep noise to a minimum so do you think i can get away with not plugging in the fan, or is that asking for trouble?

yeah, you're probably right, as there is going to be some (hopefully minimal) fan noise from the case and PSU anyway I might as well leave the CPU stock fan running but on lowest speed.
