Intel G550 and GTX 460

It depends on which games you're planning to play. It'll probably cope with some older games, but I wouldn't expect very much from it.

I had a GTX 460 for around 15 Months (replaced it 8 weeks ago) and it was amazing. Was able to play Dirt, Skyrim, Just cause 2, Portal 2.. (anything really) on High Settings at 1080p.

They overclock very well too..

Not sure about the 550's.

well as i already have the intel G550 i will see if i can pick up a cheap gtx 460 or similar second hand and try it out.

Get the Pentium G2020 (IvyBride 2.9GHz Dual-core). They are just around £45 and performance is comparable to even the higher clocked Sandy based Pentium, plus lower power consumption and runs cooler.

I'm running a G620T with a HD6950 in my HTPC. It deals fine at 1080p with most things, but it does get a bit chuggy in busy areas in games. I'm planning on putting an i3 in it at some point.
