I have a G620T running my fileserver doesnt do much bar serve media and a bit of torrent downloads using the stock cooler which is not that thick by using a stock intel cooler from a higher TDP cpu with a copper centre will it cool better?

You might be best just buying a second hand after market cooler, unless you have an intel stock cooler spare, then you can always test it out? won't do harm to test it

The answer to your question is yes, it will cool better. As already suggested though, if you spend a little on a decent after market cooler you'll get much better cooling and it'll run quieter too.

That CPU has the heat output of a moldy tomato. The junk HSF it comes with is more than enough.

Theres 13x 8tb hdd's in there so the case gets very warm and i try to keep the fans at very low not so bad in the winter but over july the cpu was getting close to 60c.
