I have these graphics on a Clevo laptop.

Under Linux, I can run a second monitor (DGM) off the HDMI output at it's native resolution (2560x1440) no problem, with the desktop extended (the built in screen is a 15" AU Optronics panel @ 1920x1080). I can rotate the DGM every which way I want. Life is wonderful.

Under Windows, the maximum resolution available is 1920x1080. I've no problems with rotation and all the other stuff. Just the resolution.

I've tried editing the configuration in Windows default display settings in control panel. I've tried editing the configuration in Intel's own software they bundle with the drivers. I've downloaded the latest drivers from Intel and installed those and still, 1080p is the maximum I'm able to set the DGM to.

Built in and digital display offer up exactly the same resolutions, regardless of where I access from (tray, control panel, intel panel, et cetera).

Anyone have any ideas? I deal mostly in Linux and OSX. So I'm completely out.

update the gpu drivers... i had a problem with linking my old 19" 1440*900 monitor with my 27" 1080p monitor, it wouldn't let me have the 19" at 1440*900... updated drivers and it lets me now

Cheers for the reply Cinderz. I've got the latest chipset and graphics drivers installed. Still no luck. Infuriating.

Latest chipset drivers from Intel or from your laptop manufacturer ?

I find laptop GPU drivers are more tailored to the laptop than their desktop equivalent so it might be worth having a try.

I have the same GPU as you in my laptop at work and it does greater than 1080p. I would check the settings in your Intel Graphics Control panel.

Also some laptops are particular with regards to ports. I know some laptops wont do greater than 1080p on hdmi or even output to a second monitor yet switch to the displayport, VGA or dvi (via a dock) and they do.

From Intel. Went on their site and did the whole detection thing and I had all the latest drivers.

This one does. I reinstalled Linux and I've got the second monitor running extended @ 2560x1440. So this GPU and port are capable of it.

I'm just going to run Linux. Only reason I had installed Windows was I wanted to dual boot and use Exact Audio Copy without running it under WINE (which is a hateful piece of software). So I'm just going to use something else under Linux for securely ripping audio CDs.

Have you tried installing monitor drivers? Seems Windows can't figure out what resolutions are available, and monitor drivers might help.
