Hello,
with the low ram prices ( just 34 euros vor an 8gb crucual ddr3 Sodimm) I'm tempted to upgrade my lappy's ram.
I have already gone from 4 to 6 gb about a year ago. ( along with cpu upgrade from pentium p6200 to i5, and hdd to ssd)
However, with just Chrome, VS, office and a few other apps running I'm always sitting at 95% RAM usage.
Googling however reveals a potential problem, the chipset might not support 8gb sticks or over 8gb of ram at all ? Ideally I'd like 12 ( 1x8 and 1x4). This would allow me to multitask more.
Does the Intel HM55 chipset ( in combo with an i5 460m) support 8gb ram modules and 8+gb ram in total, or not ?
Or should I go looking for a better laptop base (Sandy/Ivy or Haswell) that allows more upgradeability?
