***Intel i5 4690K Owners thread***

Well had mine for over a month now

Not clocked it or anything just running it in so to speak and getting used to extra power from my old pc

just desktop / internet work the temps are down @ 20 degrees etc

Gaming for many hours - 6-10 in some extreme cases - hardly over 50 degrees

I5 - 4690k
Nepton 140xl AIO cooler
Gigabyte Mother board

Nice and cold and seems like plenty of power

Ive just installed My new 4690k and MSI Gaming 5 Mobo. Ive tried a couple of overclocks and i cant seen to get one stable enough to leave it going. Using real temp GT and the temps are flying around all over the place.

Any tips or pointers to help a noob like me get started with this new chip. I had a AMD A8-6600k with a overclock on it of 4.6Ghz and that was no trouble

I just got the same setup... The bios is pretty confusing compared to ASUS 990fx. Prime was stable at 4.6 with 1.25 vcore. Trying to push higher but I don't think Prime is going to be stable.

I haven't got an MSI board but on my Asus Z97-K I was struggling for a decent overclock, in the end I just let it do an automatic overclock, it went to 44x102 and I just bumped it up to 45x102. I haven't managed to significantly reduce the voltage from what the board picked (1.266 under load). It is stable at 1.3v for 4.8ghz but gets a bit toasty.

What are you guys using to overclock, Bios or Motherboard program of some sort ? Ive been using Intel Extreme Tuning Utility

I'm in the bios. Took me 1.32vcore to get stable at 4.7ghz

Can anybody with more experience on these Msi boards set out their methods?

What cooler you using on it when your getting 4.7???

Noctua nh-u14s. Send very cool, peaked low 70s under stress. Under 60 in games so far.
