intel i5's vs amd FXs

Dawn of War 2 - not a game I have played nor heard of till I scanned it then. I do like the warhammer theme though last game non-console was Terminators against Genestealers on the 'Space Hulk' using my Amiga!

Xbox I liked spacemarine too.

Edit - tell a lie I played Warhammer Online the MMO a few years back. Nostalgia is kicking in and briefly thought of Conan in Conall's valley - would look lush on the 7990...

using WoW as an example is terribad , that game runs like butter on most cpus now days. Ignoring the price intel has AMD cpu's beaten however there isn't a whole lot of perceivable difference (game/program depending) so if you can't afford an Intel system then AMD offer a very good price-performance orientated solution that you should be happy with.

Wow is an example of a poorly threaded game. No worse than any other example. You are however wrong about it running like "butter" on most CPUs. It is one of those games that in certain situations is able to bring virtually any system to its knees. An example is my 3930k system at 4.5 Ghz (24/7 clock at 1440p). In some outdoor boss raids, with details on ultra, when the fight begins, the game crawls to less than 10 fps with all the screen effects on display. No matter what processor you have, it will do this in said situations.

Unsure as to why the edit out but I think that's better than any usual resistance to the verses war - in this case a moot point.

Yeah, even going back to the release of WoW it was evident when Tarren Mill and Crossroad raids that games cannot be functional when you have hundreds or thousands of people in the same area. This is not a <insert persons home computer spec> issue, it is down to the Server with how much information people can get from an overloaded situation. While better spec machines will help in small number combat, huge raids and process intensive battles will also focus on the network connection which is again out of your control in between the nodes.
