***Intel i7 4790K Owners thread***

73c at stock when gaming still seems a bit high though, which arctic cooling heatsink are you using? Typically i get temps upto 75c in games, but thats at 4.7ghz on 1.300 vcore. Cooler is an alpenfohn k2 dual tower though.

4.9 @ 1.37 for normal use
idle temp around 28-35 but is summer so room temp is not that great.
hits 80+ on intel stress test thou.

But my use isn't much so never heats up too much.
Using XSPC EX240 for cooling

I read that the Arctic 7 uses MX-2 compound and I have MX-4 to hand but I read that the MX-2 is possibly better but then again I also read that human blood would make a good thermal paste due to its iron content :D

So im not sure what to do really..

Can someone do me a test please?

Run Cinebench with 4 cores and then run it again with HT enabled ?

Also in games are all 8 threads being utilised? Or are the Physical cores used first?

In games it goes cores then threads. Though depends how devs have developed the game and workload. If they have threaded the game and got workloads down it may choose twocores and two of the threads because it can handle it. But usually its phsyical then logical cores.

Games I get anything from 60-75c max, air cooled at 4.7ghz on 1.300. That was when I had sli cards dumping heat into the case if ran without an fps limit. 60c with limit on. Max of 83c running Asus real bench.

Intel Core i7-4790K 4.00GHz (Devil's Canyon)

This is currently a top CPU? Mate wants to go all new and he currently has an old AMD CPU so he needs a new CPU and motherboard and ram.

If the above is 'The' one to go for, what Mobo and ram would you guys suggest please. Ta

This is the top quad core.

The top intel CPU at the moment is the 5960K, bar all the xeon and stuff.

Mines at 4.4 with 1.25 but i need to test stability with more mhz as i just tapped that in. Max temp in real bench of 70c

Its the current top mainstream chip, but soon to be superceded by intels new skylake platform, 6700k being the replacement for the 4790k. New socket and ddr4, supposed to be out in a few months time.

Cheers mate :) I'm on the verge of a 4690k for 125 but like me I'm tinkering on 4790k...or a Xeon E1230v 3 for 164

After the 45 I get for the g3258...I can't clock the Xeon but it's got 8mb cache and HT
