***Intel i7 4790K Owners thread***

I remember the first batch of 4790k were very bad over clockers needed a lot volts but a few months after release we started getting real good cpu`s that could do 4.9 on the core and cache with 1.275v to 1.300v. Seems like mixed results now they are becoming EOL.

I've always kept mine at 4.5GHZ overclock with 1.25V vcore since day 1. I was never too fussed about pushing towards the 5 GHZ line, a decent speed increase is enough for me.

I just playing breaking point in Arma 3, and within about 1 hour, the game froze up and a complete system shut down and reboot. There's me thinking my Asus realbench was stable.

Although I was running lower volts 1.325, hopefully 1.34v should fix it!

Seeing as I had no help at all in my main thread, I'll ask here

I noticed I was getting severe stuttering in Skyrim, and slight hitching in others and then I checked my voltages while playing games.

It should be doing 1.334v all the time as it does in stress testing!

But in games the voltages are not stable at all, it's as if they are dropping to performance mode. Now for my i5 2500k I used to have that running at 1.3v all the time, 24/7, is it related to a power setting in BIOS? Also why are stress tested voltages staying stable at 1.334v but in games they are dropping to windows idle volts?

Installed my 4790k onto an ASROCK z97 Extreme4 last night.

Really quite pleased with it :)

After some tweaking last night and this morning, I'm at 4.7GHz @ 1.218v and 4.5GHz cache at 1.2v cache and 1.848v input voltage (These voltages OK? I've not had much time to tweak them yet.)

Some of the cores touch the low 80s momentarily, but generally sit at about 75 during real bench.

Not saying it's 100% stable, but it's passed a couple of hours of real bench, so that's a good start. :)

Got my new rig up and running, very happy with it and want to have a dabble at overclocking but when I enable XMP to set the ram it seems to mess with the whole system, it ups the cpu to 4.4 which is fine but sets the vcore to around 1.280 which puts the temps up a few degrees, I also have the Asus AI suite installed which came with the motherboard software but I might uninstall it as that seems to go against the bios settings, every time I boot up it seems to set to extreme profile and I have to tinker with it, the fan profile etc. Any recommendations regarding overclocking software, bios tips etc are appreciated

Had some issues with my overclock.

After much tweaking, it was the cache screwing me. After taking it down to 43x, I've now passed an 8r realbench test at 1.218v :)

I've been concentrating on trying to take many voltages off auto, as my board seams very generous with many of these (ie +.3v ofset on agent voltage :O). I've got most of them back to stock (not auto) except for system agent voltage which isn't happy at +0.001 so is currently at +0.02v

Vcore may well go down a little but more, but I'm doing an 8hr realbench stress test at 1.218v @ 4.7GHz again overnight to confirm the other voltages are ok.

Temps are making me a little sad @ 83c realbench load (hottest maximum recorded core after 8hr realbench), so I'm going to reseat the cooler 2moz, as I was very annoyed when seating it due to putting one of the brackets on the wrong way round and having to do it again lol. I put far too much paste of just cos I wanted it done.

Wish me luck. a few c drop could make some magical things happen 24/7 :)

Its the Batch No. X511A804 , are these any good for overclocking at all ?

Still awaiting for my case before i can install this and have a play with this CPU.

delided my rubbish chip and temps dropped 15c at load :) well happy, these guys that put the paste on want a slap across the face big time lol
