***Intel i7 4790K Owners thread***

ok... waw... i just want to mention that everything im talking about is on default clocks and voltages.
so, 1st time i got the 4790k, i used the box cooler, it gave me 80º on idle and 102º while converting mp4 to mkv.
like a lot of you i was upset, so i installed my Noctua NH-C12P SE14 (with its stock 14mm fan).
the NH-C12P SE14 gave me 32º-40º on idle and during converting mp4 to mkv it never went above 82º.
so yesterday iv removed the stock 14mm Fan (its a NF-P14), and instead iv installed (did some combo) the NOCTUA NF-A14 industrialPPC-3000 PWM 14cm 3000RPM
the result is amazing.
on idle i get 30º
on load i get 68º _ 12º redux! _ (under converting the same mp4 to mkv)
iv got the kaze master pro controller so i only cranck it up when i need to, on idle im staying on 1300rpm
here are some pics:

this is on my sis machine so i havent fixed the fan attachment yet.

PAPER is from a diffrant test (if anyone wonder)

whats with the paper LMFAO :D
paper is a good conductor/isolator of heat...

also better to put this pictures under spoilers tags or reduce the size or a certain mod will come in here and beat you with in a inch of your life, ok lol

I have played Arma II & Arma III and I am only a few fps difference there at least at 2540x1440 and 4k. Might well be different at 1920 though.

Hitman Absolution is meant to be CPU bound but I have seen zero difference in that.

To be fair I don't play all that many games that are CPU bound though.

now that is quick.

2666MHz CAS9!!!! :D

nice stulid ;)
your starting to loose dram efficency though.

can you post up a IBT 5 pass showing your temps with those settings + a GTL 2.0 screen & memtweak open showing your voltages. also with aida open showing your correct voltage load so i can compare :D

:D

I know its not a massive clock, but got mine stable at 4.6Ghz @ 1.23v. Interestingly, it was stable for all benchmarks/IBT/realbench at 1.21v but it crashed after 5 minutes of playing war thunder. I thought it was meant to be the other way around??

Efficiency is looking fine.

I'm knocking 5-6sec off with every 100MHz core increase and the change from 10 to 9 did what's expected.

You can see memtweak is open in the screen shot.

Vcore is 1.37.

are these worth the upgrade from a 2500k? i'm currently using a gtx660 2gb gaming at 2560x1440p Haswell E is out of the picture due to price , but im wondering if the extra money is better spent on a gpu , as prices for the i7 don't look like there dropping much cheapest i've seen is £239

i was hoping to use my current stuff as a pc build for my gf and then grab a msi krait and a devils canyon chip but i might be better picking up an i5 as i don't do any video encoding and pretty much just play games.
any one got any input?

stud i see your memtweakit score up top for dram efficiency and it is low
with my memory if it was clocked at what yours was it should be higher

my current efficiency is 41804 @ 1200mhz *2400* speeds.
it could be that your getting massive error correction, or it could be the massive dram refresh interval your using.

though im trying to figure out something on my system to get faster memory :D
using you as a ginypig :D lol

can you post your GTL 2.0 picture showing your voltages ect for that speed as it just shows memtweakit only.
i wonder what the max voltage i can use on my ic`s on my memory is for a safe voltage, i use viper green 2133 avixier memory 2x8gb cas9

I wouldn't pay too much attention to the efficiency score memtweak reports.

Iv'e looked deep through the RAM addict page at OCN and it seems that the score varies widely between different speeds and ic's used.

Same for the SuperpI thread at HWbot, there are scores there that are really low but the SuperPI times are incredible.

Example,

Hynix MFR - http://i.imgur.com/1rhAnts.png

guess your right then :D
now i have to retweak my memory

seems the memory i have are good old Hynix IC according to 8pack they are and are fine with voltages as high as 1.7-1.75v or higher though not sure what the max safe voltage is......
-----------------------------------

i have always ran my memory @ 1.65v.

can you post a picture of your GTL 2.0 so i can see what IO/AO/DRAM voltage you are using.
