Intel i7 Haswell-E right around the corner

5820K is hexa? possibly same price as 4820K?

tell me more about it...

Didn't they say it would be about £50 cheaper than current 4930K? it has less PCI-E lanes so not as good for multi GPU setups. I can't see them selling a hex at anything like 4820K price as it would make LGA1150 largely redundant.

any idea on IPC impovements over DC?.

also how much more are we talking on top of say a 1300 pound dc build

4770K = Haswell
4790K = Haswell (Codename devil's canyon, exactly the same core, just extra capacitors, allowing slightly higher overclocks)
5960X (Haswell-E) - Haswell also. Exactly the same performance per core, just with additional cores and additional cache

IPC of all the above will be identical on a core level. Of course you can overclock DC slightly more, but performance per Mhz is the same. Same goes for Haswell-E, which will just have additional cores and larger cache.

Should I upgrade my AMD fx6350 and buy the Devil Canyon i7 now or wait for the E series.

Only you can answer that, lol.
Do you need the extra grrrrrrrrr now, or can you wait 3 months? Is £350ish(+) above or below your budget, knowing that DDR4 will also ask a premium. Performance will annihilate your current chip but so will a 4790k ;)

X** boards also tend to be more expensive, basically it bores down to £££ and time, how much are you willing to spend and how long you're willing to wait.

When all the DDR4 and new X** boards come out they will very expensive so I think that I should upgrade now to the Devil Canyon i7 and overclock it and then upgrade in about 2 years when its all much cheaper.

How much do you reckon a i7 E series would be?

TBH, doubt the X99 boards will be much more expensive than the X79 when they dropped. DDR4, i recall seeing a slide showing them to be 30% more expensive than like for like DDR3, so really not much of a premium (that's before gouging though, so who knows with that one!)

Best bet is DC, you know what you're getting so you wont be let down. Nothing worse than waiting and waiting, only to find it was a flop.

Hehe, fair enough. I'm 35 with a 3 year old and I swear it was only 5 minutes ago that I was 32 and still had time to actually play on my pc :)

I hear you, my youngest is 7 months, as much as she lights up my life, she demands our attention and its tough.

I'll teach her how to install a haswell-e :D

As much as I'd love a Haswell-E I think my daughter will have to put up with building an anniversary pentium system for the moment :)

I decided to just scrap my main desktop until Haswell E
As you may have seen I had a mobo go on me and have been looking for 1366 boards
Alas it's hard enough to find one
Then I wanted one crossfire friendly.. Ie 2 slots between the pcie 16x
Rare!

Decided it's too much hassle
Sold my ssds
Selling everything else gradually

Gonna battle through with my htpc and low gfx games
Use laptop for day to day stuff

I'm still not going to buy at launch.. Don't want to pay early adopter premium!
Looking for 6cores

I dont get bonus or **** need to save up for one of those.
So far plan is 5820K + intel overclocking protection plan. And just run it at its limit 24/7 like i do with my 2500k :)

I wont be doing any xfire or shiet so thats good enough for me. With some Asus Gene motherboard :)
