intel i9 7900x showing up as i5 7640x

hi i recently bought a oem i9-7900x from this site to put into my new build but once the build was complete the cpu was showing as an intel 15-7640x in the bios, device manager and cpuz. i have tried uninstalling all the core drivers and restarting it but currently nothing has worked.

Only 4. Im pretty sure I remember checking it before I put it in and it was correct. Unfortunatly it’s under a water cooling loop right now

sorry for the late reply. its a hardline tube so its a bit of a pain to take of but if i cant find a solution before the 27th im going to call overclockers and ask for a replacement

I updated the bios haven’t reset it yet. I need to remove the cmos battery for that right? Don’t mind to much about draining the loop I’m not too happy with the colour that came out so I may flush it and change the colour.

Oh and the motherboard is the
TUF X299 MARK 2

ive done a bios reset but no luck so ive rang overclockers and am going to return it sometime this week hopefully that fixes the problem

Yea turns out they sent the wrong one. Sending it back in the morning will probably take awhile though with it being new year
