And if AMD had Intels massive share of the business, and Intel was the underdog, there is absolutely no proof that AMD would have any better business ethics. Its business, they will do anything to get their product sold.
People often go on about how great AMD are with their budget pricing, have they forgotten when the Athlon64's came out they were so much faster than Intels P4's that AMD had no problem with slapping very premium prices on them, especially the high end models, while all Intel could do was keep dropping the pricetag on the Pentium 4's until they finally had a viable performance product.
Dont get me wrong, I dont approve of Intel's alleged behavior, but I do understand it... The Pentium 4 was a completly rubbish processor, but at the time its all intel had, and they got rather desparate to get rid of it in the face of AMD's ever increasing market share with Athlon64's. My justification for saying Pentium IV is rubbish is based on Pentium III being considerably faster clock for clock, and that Core2's are effectivly based on an evolution of Pentium III not Pentium IV. But dont come all AMD is perfect intel is the devil... It's the same wherever you look, AMD/ATi are playing the price card still, because Nvidia's high end parts are fast, but very expensive. If Nvidia dont get their Fermi parts out soon, and AMD/ATi really crush them in the performance markets, I would be completely unsurprised if they slap on extreme pricetags on extreme parts.
Nvidia is a case in point, if things dont go their way, they modify their drivers so their cards wont go SLI.. Why so they can sell more chipsets... Thats just as bad as anything intel have ever done.
