In the process of part picking for an ITX build. So far, the only components I have is an i5 12400f CPU and a NR200 case (not the 'P' version).

I saw OC have the Asus ROG Strix B760-I Gaming WIFI for £194 was going to pair this with a RTX 3060 ti or RX 6700. There are a few other ITX boards around this price range (Gigabyte B760I AORUS PRO, ASRock Z790M-ITX WIFI, MSI MPG B760I EDGE WIFI, etc), just wondering if anyone can suggest what would be the best (and least hassle combo). Don't 'think' I will overclock this system, might upgrade the CPU and GPU in the future but doubt I would go for a next gen, PCIe 5.0 GPU.

Tentative parts list here

it depends on what you want to do with it and which one has the right connectors for you for the price.

Which one has the most m.2 slots versus SATA ports?

I agree that I wouldn’t stress about pci-e gen 5 - it’s not much use at the moment for the average user.

I’d probably get the cheapest ITX board that ticks all of your boxes.

I’d also strongly consider swapping out the 12400F for the one with an iGPU but that’s only from my experience of troubleshooting my own ITX build and how painful it can be given riser extensions and how painful cable management can be.

Just had a Quick Look at the Gigabyte B760I AORUS PRO, it has a 10 layer PCB and can do DDR5-8000, that’s pretty damn good.

I like having a board that can do really good RAM speeds as it means that you can tweak your RAM for the best performance but even I will admit that RAM overclocking is a pain and not something that everyone is into.

The Gigabyte has only 2 SATA ports which is disappointing for me but even I will admit that I shouldn’t run more than 2 SATA drives and should probably run a NAS for the one that I use for DATA storage.

I have a B550i Strix in a Q58 that I have completely filled with M.2 and 2.5” storage and is a complete mess of cables and drives and I really should just have a second system that I use to play around with instead of an ITX build.

I went for that motherboard in the end... only concern I have is that it might not play nice with the cooler I got (phantom spirit), I've heard it may foul the heat sinks and / or the memory. In a panic I got a Noctua NH-C14 on standby but it's double the price, either can be returned but not if I open them... so need to make a decision. Any experience with this??
