Just wondering: are the graphics any good on the core duo mini as on my Power PC mini IMO the graphics arnt really upto scratch. When you do lots of stuff with eye candy on the desktop it gets a bit slow and in dashboard the ripple effect doesn't work. Is the GMA950 better? I've notice that it supports Core Image which I assume is better.

GMA950 is OK and seems to cope with most things pretty well, but it's never going to compete with a decent dedicated graphics card. Be warned that if you decide to Boot Camp, some games dislike all onboard graphics - including this one. :(

I'm not bothered about games, just as long as it runs OSX smoothly without dropping frames everywhere, In the applestore I went on one of the quad G4s with 2x30" monitors and tried to mess it up by opening everything on the dock at the same time, it was instant, and handled it no problems, pure bliss, no idea what thats got to do with my question though lol.

Yeah, I have an Intel Core Duo, the 1GB/100GB option and the graphics are superb, I downloaded the Call of Duty 2 demo a while ago and it ran that perfectly, and just last I downloaded the Quake 4 demo and although it struggles with loading times the graphics are still superb.

Same model here. Sounds like I just found one particularly pedantic game then (I don't play many). I've run the likes of Google Earth on it flawlessly, so it's clearly good. :)

Thats good news as I had been thinking about a new Duo mini.

So would you say that a £600 core duo mac mini with 1gb of ram would be worth the money?

I have had a mini since the start and the little 1.25ghz processor seems to be starting to slow as Im asking more of it.

I'm just not sure if I would be better off spending that money on a pc. But then I'm stuck with windows as linux was to much like hard work for me :p

Cheers for any replys :D

The GMA950 should handle all of the OSX interface fine, it seems to run WoW pretty well too. I did have a defective MacBook to start with which did struggle on the interface and video playback but my new one works fine, no problems at all with it.
