Intel memory

Hello all,

I never had an intel (overclock) and I wonder how memory works with these.

I know for my AMD that there is a divider and depending on the FSB (200 for example) you run at 1:1 with DDR 400 (200 Mhz).

Now, since I plan to build a new rig (new DFI boards!) I don't know how memory will work out.

So lets say I run the FSB at 500, any ram with 1000Mhz rating will work 1:1? Is it possible ( and benefitial) to buy 1500Mhz ram for example and run at higher fsb:memory ratios?

Yeh you can run the RAM faster than the CPU. This is mostky beneficial for an intel C2D or quad as they respond much better to faster RAM.

The Intel FSB is quad pumped.

So 800fsb CPUs are in reality 200 and 1066 CPUs are 266, 1333 CPUs are 333

PC6400 RAM which runs at 800mhz should be fine
