why is a Wolfdale cheaper when it has more cache? Surely it should be more expensive? or are they slower per mhz than a Conroe?

Stuck on an AMD X2 4400 at the mo, starting to feel the need to upgrade...:o

No, Wolfdale is faster.

What in? X2 4400+ (esp an overclocked one) is still pretty decent.

my 4400 is one of the first batches (paid like £500 for it), it did 2400 at first, however its now at default of 2200 and wont even go 100mhz faster. Its on a Asus A8nSLI premium with 2gig corsair DDR500, which is also loosing speed as it gets older, its running at DDR315 (333 setting). The system has been at full load (Boinc) since built, and it has taken its toll. Next system i probably wont run boinc anymore...

It also has a Nvidia 7800gtx 256mb ram, but im currently testing my friends (ChAIn3D) 8800GTX OC2 768mb to see if its part of the fault with his system... Its not a problem seems totally fine for me, and its got me drooling for more power its fantastic!

So i aint CPU limited then?
