Never built anything other than AMD setups over the last several years and I has switched over to the darkside and bought a E6750 however I can't get the system going!

E6750
Asus P5KC
2gb Corsair PC 6400
74gb raptor
ATI 2900pro
580 Hiper PSU

Aside from the MB reporting 82 degree CPU temp on boot (never changes no matter how long you leave it, on the main problem is stability). The heatsink doesn't feel that hot and feels suitably well attached. I can't run windows setup, memtest, or even leave it turned on for any length of time while tinkering with the bios setting without it re-starting!

Have set ram to 4-4-4-12 @2.1v, CPU is set to 1.3v, speedstep is disabled.

Anyone any suggestions. I'm sure I read a similar thread on here but I have been unable to find it again despite searching for it.

Thanks in advance :)

Make sure you have the latest bios which is 0701 from the site. It may be an incompatibility with CPU. You could also try lowering the ram speed. The temp readout is odd, but as you say its not too hot to touch, that could be BIOS giving you a faulty reading or a knackered Mobo, you may have to send it back.

Quick bit of googling suggests the temp sensor it crap on these boards, updating the bios may help lower them. I'm fairly sure the temp is reading wrong as there is no way it could reach 82 in the time it takes to press the power button and then press DEL on the keyboard. The temp does not change no matter how long you leave it on for.

Are there any settings in the bios that I may need to change? It is showing 1333fsb and the correct stock speed of 2671mhz.

Thanks again

Dave

Just checked and I am on the latest version of the bios already.

There wasn't any protective film on the HSF to remove, though I did lazily use the pants thermal material supplied with it instead of putting some propper/decent thermal paste on.
