Intel Nova Lake (16th gen) on next gen platform/socket (LGA-XXXX)

I am really surprised that intel hasn't released any press videos. Hallock said we were going to get reasons what went wrong, and fixes. While there are rumours about 0x114, I would have thought they would be keen to keep the promise about a press release.

I am still very much in the balance on my next purchase. If intel fix this issue then I will buy one. But if the 9800X3D becomes available in the mean time, I will buy one of those.

From today’s investors conference

“And as you said, you know, there's some good -- and some good, bad that comes every time you develop a new process. But just to give some assurances, on Panther Lake, we have our ES0 samples out with customers. We have eight customers that have powered on, which gives you just kind of an idea that the health of the silicon is good and the health of the Foundry is good.”

ES0 in the hands of 8 costumers. 10-12 months before release… I’d say I’m moderately optimistic about 18A.

Arrow lake was pretty much DOA

Hoping Nova Lake can make some major strides

It depends, really, whether intel want to take on the gaming market. AMD produced CPU's that are specifically aimed at the gamers, but intel really haven't done that.

I consider this to be a better overall review of the intel vs the AMD (shame they didn't include more CPU's).....

I was surprised to see, in that video, such a great difference the 9800x3d Ryzen CPU's can make in certain games at 4k.

Some of the results in that graph look questionable, World of Warcraft being over 100FPS faster on a 7800X3D vs 9800X3D for example.

That said, I noticed a big difference at 4K going from 12900k > 13900k > 7950X3D, especially in minimum FPS. Highly game dependant though.

Arrow Lake does fall down in some stuff even at 4K to be fair, would be good to see at least the 14900K in there as a reference, though apparently he was also using unsuitable RAM for the AL setup, though that doesn't explain why the 9800X3D is also way out ahead of the 7800X3D in some stuff.

They’ve made a good change with the P/E cores and high overall core counts I feel, but they need to develop them both further and reduce power draw to make it more viable

All well and good having loads of cores, but AMD are doing more with less

any performance gain rumours with these? Hoping for a high IPC increase and see how they compare with AMD
I wouldn't expect anything above single digits but we don't know. Maybe 5-7% IPC increase over Lion Cove. That would already be pretty good and with the node improvement should easily become the best ST x86 chip out there by a fair margin.

not too bad I suppose, gains are pretty marginal these days across the board with all brands it seems

Nova Lake is set to release in 2026, which means it'll probably be delayed to late 2026 or early 2027, given Intel's recent track record.

By then, we'll have Zen6 released, so it's in no way clear who'll have the best IPC at this time IMO.
