Intel + NVidia : Hybrid graphics?

Im getting a new Laptop for basic gaming.

I bought this one and its not yet arrived, but its got Hybrid graphics?

Does this work in the same way as the old Voodoo 1 & 2 cards worked?

Can anyone explain to me how it works? I have not heard of it before.

Will be that it uses the onboard graphics when on the desktop, or in low power mode.
Nvidia card will only be used when in high performance mode, or when in games.

Saves battery!

Nvidia Mobile GPU's use Optimus to switch between the CPU iGPU and the dedicated Mobile GPU.
