Hi guys, I'm currently looking to build a pc for gaming/streaming for around £2k.
I've been researching CPU's and my issue is if I future proof and get an i9-9900k for e.g. it will run hot, and not be really overclockable without an expensive watercooling setup. Below is the build i'm looking at, so that's the spec roughly I want, any advice on which I should go? as the new threadrippers are dominating performance/heat wise.

thanks!

Hi welcome to the forum :)

The 9900K is the best cpu if money isn't an issue. The i7 9700K is a cheaper option, or of course you have Ryzen which is great value for money.

If going with the 9900K you will need a better motherboard than that one to avoid thermal throttling. I would also go with something like the Alphacool 360mm AIO for £99.

So I guess it boils down to whether you want the value for money option, or are happy to spend the full £2K and get a 9900K etc.

Also is a monitor included in the budget ? If not what resolution are you going to use ?

Thanks for your response mate, I've looked at reviews using mobos across the board and the 9900k ran hot, even with a full loop and AIO's, so i'm still unsure as I do want to pretty much get some of the best stuff out right now.

The monitor I use is a BENQ XL2411 and I usually play stretched res lol in fps games, but i'll go to something with more pixels I'm guessing since achieving 144fps will be easy.

So guys, so anybody have any idea to which I should build? i7 8700k/9700k, i9 9900k or an AMD system? I really wanted to get the i9 but everywhere is reviewing it at a HOT running cpu...
Also other misc info, i don't need a monitor or any additional equipment, I have around a 2k/2.5k budget to get what I want.

9700K for gaming I would say.

AMD has the benefit of being upgradable to the new chips next year on the current motherboards. One option could be to grab a 2nd hand 1700/1800 until AMD release the new chips next year then just drop one of those into your motherboard.

Thanks man, i'll have a look at 9700k, reckon it'll be okay with streaming too?
