Which would you choose?

Intel P45 is cheaper and comes with the ICH10R southbridge. It also uses less power and runs cooler

Intel X48 is more expensive, older, and only comes with the ICH9R. It does however have more performance potential, greater overclocking ability, true Crossfire support with duel PCI-E 2.0 x16 lanes and generally better specced designs.

Thoughts?
I'm split between the two although the price is a big plus for the P45 boards.

They both should overclock cpu's around the same, P45 are hardly slouches :)

The choice is
2x PCI-E2.0 16x
2x PCI-E2.0 8x (or 1 PCI-E2.0 16x)

Note no current card can use the full bandwidth of PCI-E2.0 at 16x. They are lucky if they use half that, which is why P45's are such good value.

Out of interest do they overclock better than the P35 boards that came before them?

I'm looking for a solid overclocking board which isn't ladden down with extra features like firewire, dual/quad network ports, extra onboard IDE/SATA connectors. I just want a powerful, solid overclocker that runs cool and does the job.
