Hi, im thinking of buying a new laptop soon and want to get one with the new penryn CPU. But, I am not sure how to tell if the cpu im buying is a penryn?

I have tried searching for model numbers and stuff but haven't come across anything.
For example is a Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T7250 (2.00 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 2 MB L2-cache) one? how would i tell?

Don't you believe me?? I just typed in T7250 into Google, and the first result was for an intel website. I then clicked on"processor spec finder home" and under "Browse by processor family" chose mobile core 2 duos.

The 45nm ones are penryn

Will let you know this over the course of the weekend, as I before had a Dell XPS M1530 with a T7250, returned it due to a rubbish screen, and have now re-ordered but this time they had a T9300 Penrym available, so I placed that order straight away, and has just arrived this morning! :D

Well I've got the T8300 (2.4 GHz, 3 MB cache) penryn in my Vostro 1500 and it's a damn fine processor. SuperPI 1M time is 20s running on one core, which compares very well with my desktop E6750 (2.66 GHz, 4 MB cache) time of 19s. Plus there's heat and power consumption advantages from having a penryn.

I dont suppose that I will see much of a difference until Vista is running for a few weeks as it supposedly gets faster the longer you use it.

I wont be able to tell much of a difference to when I had my T7250 model, as I refrained from installing much on it when I made the conscious decision to return it, so didnt get a chance to play any games on it, which is where I would be seeing a benefit from the higher CPU.
