Hello,

I've spent the last few days searching the internet for information on this and have so far come up empty. Can anybody advise which mobile processor is the better, the Intel Pentium 967 or the AMD E-450?

I am looking at the samsung 300u:

and the samsung 305u:

and as far as I can tell the only difference is the processor.

The laptop will be primarily used for travelling (emails, browsing, photo processing etc).

Thanks for your help.

I don't really have any evidence but my guess is that the 1.65Ghz dual core would be better than the 1.3Ghz single core. I know Intel tend to have better processors, but an extra core and clock bump like that I think would make the AMD one faster.

i have the E450 and on the bench test yes i seems slower but it absolutley flys in real life for what it is and the graphics on this chip are really impressive for what it is, playng some mmo's and world of tanks etc and im not really missing my i5 rig with its GTX280. :)

i would just recommend a fresh windows install and upgrade to 8gb of ram.( costs about £26) im not 100% but i dont think the intels on this platform support the ddr3 pc 1066 1333mhz chips....?

cant stress enough that the bench marks dont do this E450 chip justice as the cpu part is not as good as intel but the chip excels at graphics and photo imagery as the HD6320 part of the apu is great although it is direct x 11 so using bench marks like 3dmark are a little un fair as they are focused on direct x 9.

The Pentium 967 looks like a cut down i5-2467M found in the new macbook air/ultrabooks (same package size but no turbo, hyper threading, less L3 Cache, no Quick Sync etc)

It should offer much higher performance than the E450 but with less GPU power.

If your not gaming/outputing HD vids the Pentium would be much more preferable.

i think the E450 shines as a entertainment / media computer really where as the intels are the number crunchers..

although sying that the e450 runs autocad and solid works really well
