Intel Pentium D 805 Overclocking

SuperPi measures floating point calculation speed on the CPU by calculating Pi to a certain amount of decimal places. Its also memory bandwidth sensitive, giving a good indication of overall cpu/fsb/memory speed.

Google it, you'll find the proggy no problem.

SuperPI made my pc lock up at 3.2Ghz 3.1, 3, 2.9, 2.8, 2.7 and 2.6Ghz!!

=\ :'(

That new heatsink came today... not impressed with it... temps are lower by 2-3c but thats not a lot.. i was expecting a temp drop of at least 7c

I reckon ive just got a *no swearing!* mobo...

Hmm, mines gone all the way to 4ghz on stock cooler with benchmark increases all the way, although it does throttle back after 3.8ghz..

My initial reaction was the throttling, but cant be that if u've tested it..

also confused as to y superpi is crashing your system... never had that b4...

My load temp at 4ghz is 64c... maybe re-do the paste job? better hs/f (agen  )

DDR2 Overclocks really well, on the whole.

My rig uses Corsairs Value Ram and it can hit 800mhz no problem from 533! Add to that it does it at half decent speed of 4-4-4-10 - not exactly elite CAS speeds, but better than some I've seen (worst case was 5-6-6-24 !!).

It could indeed be the board giving you issues, GL with the new one.

Run the memory at 1:1 rather than 2:1 and it only needs to be 400mhz.

BTW you aren't allowed to link to competitors, and yet again (I have said a few times to other people) you are probably right in thinking it is the mobo. ECS are crap.

Thanks for that. (Ill not post links then)

My memory is 4-4-4-12 so not to bad. the memory at the moment is running at 640Mhz due to the overclock, would normaly be 533Hz.

Really think my Kingston 667Mhz will oc to 800Mhz???

I read an article somewhere about overclocking a 805, I can't remember where I read it but will try and find for you. Basically if I remember they got to a certain overclock and experienced this problem, but they carried on overclocking and at a certain FSB they got a huge boost back up. It appeared that there was some sort of dead spot between certain FSB's. I'll let you know if I can find the article.

should do those speeds, my corsair value select is running @850 fsb with 5,5,5,15 timings along with my d805. 2.1 volts on the ram.

Hello again.. got my new Asus P5B And i got my fsb to 170 so thats 3.4Ghz and it wouldent go any higher. Think its my memory thats the problem now... Think ill have to get some 800Mhz DD2 :p

y not just put the memory on a devider? save buying new equipment...

Besides, thats running your mem at 340mhz... (or 680, whichever u like) which isn't exaclty pushing it now...
