Intel price drops?

Hi all,

Has anyone heard anything about the supposed Intel price drops? I had a feeling they were meant to be today.

Many thanks,
gamer

Yes they where meant to be today but everyone starteed to drop them early last week.

I beleive OcUK where one of the first when they dropped the price of the Q6600 and then everyone followed them by dropping other prices.

But OcUK seem to have all the Core 2 Duo stuff in 'this week only' though I think Gibbo explained it some where.

Hasn't Gibbo already stated that the prices in the "this week only" are the price drops, OCuk did it a few days earlier than the official drop and that the prices would rise slightly after the this week only was done.

Yet all the other places seem to have lower prices and there stock is not in any 'this week only' type deals.

Aye thats the daft thing, do they think people dont use search engines or use something called favorites on Internet Explorer, just because people are kept silent over these things doesnt mean that people dont have the intelligence to use their common sense. . . . !

As predicted by me a whopping £10 price cut lol.
My other prediction was a whopping £10 8800 gts price cut upon the r600 release. One question though are the new range 6320 6420 etc allendale or conroe? on this site it states conroe but on a lot of sites it's saying allendale.

i'm little bit confused intel road maps had new chips running 1333mhz but on overclockers i only see chips with 800mhz clocks.
The standard chip runs on a 266MHz-FSB (e6300/e6400/e6600 etc), the new chips use a 200MHz-FSB (e4300/e4400) but soon INTEL will release even more chips that use a 333MHz-FSB (e6650/e6770/e6850).

Obviously the 333MHz-FSB chips will appeal to non-overclockers as they can just plug-in the new CPU and get an extra 268MHz-System Bus and another 134MHz speed to their memory.

What are you confused about? the fact there not released yet or?

It probably is true, but thats for the US. We will get tax+vat slapped on top of the US price.

Hmmm... we don't get tax and VAT slapped on top. The tax we pay on sales is VAT (value added tax). We usually end up paying more for stuff because manufacturers like to add a premium onto prices for their goods here because we are seen as decadent wealthy Europeans who can afford it (thereby subsidising cheap prices in the States) ;)

yep i officially hate the country i live in im leaving packing my bags as i type :(

VAT is an EC thing not a UK thing. So you need to pack your bags and leave the continent.

Good luck if you move to the US... Don't forget that they pay sales tax in a lot of US states too. And they have nothing in the way of a national health service or welfare state if you ever get down on your luck. And their government is completely in the pocket of large corporations who screw the people over in other ways. And they constantly live in fear of getting shot, even at school. :(

Sorry to be a bit arsey and pedantic. Just get a bit bored of comments like that. I personally want to leave the country because of the whole Iraq war debacle that Tony Bliar got us into with his mate George, and because I'm going to get 3 points and a £65 fine for doing 35mph in a 30mph zone that used to be a 40mph zone, even though I was slowing down when I saw the sign.

My parents are moving to the Isle of Mull where they don't have such things as speed cash machines. I might join them. Though they don't really have things like roads there either.

Was that the first sign or the next sign or the one that said "Police Camera Partnership"?

My brother-in-law is a traffic officer in Norfolk and he always used to say you should get prosecuted for Driving Without Due Care and Attention if you couldn't see the speed signs or the policeman in time to slow down. But I think they changed the law so that charge doesn't exist anymore.

I do have some sympathy, really I do!

I was driving carefully, honest - and there was no traffic ahead of me or behind me. It's a road in Sheffield that is very wide and straight - and most other roads like it in Sheffield are 40mph.

I love how in the letter they send you they say you can contest it if you want, but only after citing a list of perfectly valid reasons you were driving 5mph faster than they said you should, which they then say are not valid reasons. They then say you could face additional fines and court fees for stating your case. They have you over a barrel and you feel pressured into paying the fine and getting the points. It's criminal.

PC Plod: Yeah yeah, tell that to the judge, sonny jim.

I was unaware that you could incur court costs other than your own solicitors fees - and you can represent yourself. The magistrate can give you a higher fine, but it's unusual unless you are obviously just trying to waste time and police resources.

Quite often if you contest it, the police don't turn up apparently. However there are so many urban myths about speeding tickets that it's very hard to know what to believe. I had a colleage who was 'chased' by an unmarked police car and he went to court (he had to) and he only asked one question - "If they wanted me to stop why didn't they turn their blue lights on for almost 3 miles?" and the Police driver didn't have a good excuse why not (he just forgot!). The video/audio evidence clearly showed the police driver was very excited and was calling in pursuit assistance or something a good 2 or 3 minutes before he turned on his blue lights at which point my colleague stopped immediately and was arrested.

He got off with that as he said he was frightened of being car-jacked and/or the police driver was a psycho. He got an apology, but as far as I know, nothing happened to the police driver, which, given he had the other driver face down on the ground in an arm-lock while arresting him, was a bit annoying.
