Hi
Looking to purchase an Intel Q6600 Quad Go, coupled with a Tuniq Tower 120.

Am I correct in thinking that these CPU's will do 3.0 Ghz for fun on a 1333FSB.

If so, this has to be a cracking deal even at current £180 price point.

Any thoughts appreciated

With a tuniq and a decent motherboard, you should easily hit 3.0. The problem is when you realise how easily, you will want to push for more and more :p.

I think I will be happy at 3.0 Ghz as a 3 Gig Quad has a certain ring to it!!!!!
With regard to mobo, i'm going for an Abit IP35 Pro and 2 Gig of PC6400 ram.

What i'm looking for is a good, safe, useable overclock and at 3.0 Ghz on a 1333 FSB, it keeps the mobo in spec.

Got a B3 quad, does 3ghz at stock volts with a tuniq tower on a gigabyte p35 board.

Have a look at easyriders q6600 thread, i think he has a abit ip35 and a G0 and is very close to 3.8.

lool, 3.8!!!

i got mine to 3ghz on stock cooling, 1.3volts

thats an ip35 vanilla and some corsair 6400c4 stuff

Hi there

The GO Stepping are superb processors.

3.4GHz is pretty much possible on them all with just a slight voltage increase with decent air-cooling.

I had a play with one and had it loading into windows at 4.1GHz, benchmark stable at just under 3.95GHz and set it at 3820MHz for general running, plus the FSB was around 480MHz too with the RAM set to close to 1200MHz. :)
For cooling I used the Tuniq Tower.

Anybody with H20, should see 4GHz and at the very least 3.8GHz. :)

What temperatures where you seeing at 3.95ghz on air?

DeadMan

I think thats a bit of an overstatement. From what Ive seen....3.8Gz fully stable is a bit of a task to obtain. 3.6ish should be fairly easily attainable though.
I think that one you had must have been a lucky one:p

hi i got my quad oc at 2.63ghz, i could go higher but i want to know what temps would i be looking at, i had it at 2.8ghz and temps were 65c at full load on all cores, i think thats a bit high, would it be ok to have it at 3ghz around 70c, i got a thermaltake tmg i1,

Is that a G0 ? sounds rather high temperatures, you might want to rectify them before pushing further (better ventilation, contact between the heatsink ok etc etc).

Also your sigs waaaaay to big, read theFAQ's about it.

hi sorry about my sig, i made it smaller, is that better?...erm its a B3 stepping, i got an alright ventilation, 90mm fan at front, 120mm fan at back and my thermaltake tmg i1, i have re seated my heatsink twice. i use prime95 to test my cpu running one test per core, using the second option in the torture test (maximum heat) one, for the first hour it stays at 58c-59c, i left it another few hours when i came back it was 65c. i hear loads of people on this forum saying they have 3ghz reaching temps of 70c, i was wondering if that ok

what are the temps like on these new G0 steppings

i remember when the first Q6600 came out
on air the max overclock you would probably get was only around 3.2 - 3.3Ghz and when you ran orthos/prime you where looking at 76c for all the cores

I think there is a lot of evidence out there now that the G0 runs abit cooler, allows for more voltage and so for a higher overclock. Just as a refernece, mines is currently at 3.2GHz, load temps are 63 63 61 61 Big Typhoon HSF.
