The scores are like nothing we have seen to date.

3dmark:
cpu defult (2.4ghz)
vga 7950g2x oc 620/700

3d01 (1024x768): 44083
3d03: 37301
3d05: 14174
3d06 (1280x1024) :10044

aquamark3 (1024x768): 137762

The cinebench results are awe inspiring.

Im all for a great cpu, but Im worried that Intel will drive AMD out of business in the next 2 yrs or so with its range of Core cpus. Intel will simply keep adding more and more cores onto its cpus to increase performance, at will, until AMD have no answer. The lack of competition may increase cpu prices.

Ive noticed that he does play with his system a lot. He seems to reinstall windows a lot too. He has both Nvidia and ATI drivers installed (look in the taskbar).

Dont be. As a friend and I were discussing last week, and he pointed out quite rightly that A64 is an entire generation older than Core. At present we are comparing 'next' generation Core to 'last' generation A64.

Competativeness will rely on AMDs next gen CPU quality

Yeah but when is AMD going to release their next gen cpu? By that time, Intel will have something quicker out, which means they should be able to stay ahead of AMD for some time to come, up until AMD have been financially crippled.

lmao mate, the enthusiast market is 5% of there earnings.

Nothing will happen.

End of.

CR.

Im not really speaking of the enthusiast market. Im talking about the broader OEM market. When salesmen are all saying Intel is faster, cheaper (has a bigger brand name) and is also cheaper to run, most businesses will have no reason to buy AMD.
