Hi,

Been checking out my first intel system for a while, and trying to determine the stock voltage for the Q9550.

My motherboard AUTO mode simply says "by CPU", which means its set by whatever cpu is installed. CPUID shows 1.192v currently (disabled the power saving/idle mode in bios), dropping down to 1.136v, sometimes 1.128v when all 4 cores are being loaded with prime95.

Core Temp shows a VID of 1.2375v, and never seems to change. Is this the rated/std voltage for the chip as read from the chip, expected voltage for the model or whats set in the bios settings? There isn't an option of 1.2375V in the bios for cpu voltage when manually setting it in the bios, just slightly higher/lower.

The retail box states "max 1.25v" - is that the limit of the chip, or the maximum the chip will be set to?

Did a lot of searching but what usually came up in the results were discussions on max voltage on overclocks etc. :D

Yip 1.2375v will be the stock voltage. And upto 1.4v is safe providing you keep the chip cool.
