as titled above.

revision 1.1 of the MB, willing to bios flash if needed.

dont recommend me a q6600 as i already have one and will be moving it to another build while doing a major upgrade to my current pc.

more information will be posted later on that.

It'll work from either BIOS 12 or 14 onwards, tho the 17 betas are the best for it.

Don't be expecting a massive overclock out of it though...mine's stuck at about 3.5ghz with reasonable voltages, it's been rather disappointing.

well, my q6600 is stuck on 3.2 at the moment, due to heat issues, can reach 70 on load. its a B3 that i'm giving to my sister. the main reason for a 45nm quad for me is a new cpu to play with and for me i will never need more then stock speed anyways, but any extra speed i can get out of it from OCing is just a bonus. by the way are you on air or water? because i am also looking towards going water cooling as well if someone will kindly spec me a WC setup to fit this system

abit ip35-pro, i already have this so this is staying.
xeon 3350 need to get
gpu maybe a 4870 depending on price to performance
OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-9200C5 1150MHz Flex II Passive/WaterCooled Dual Channel DDR2 need to get
case is a lian li v2000b+ got
i prefer to put as much of the WC setup inside the case and everything must be included if you propose a WC setup including all thermal material, fluids and instructions on how to put it together.

i have no idea what to spend on WC, so budget recommendations will also be welcomed. setup needs to beat TT aircooling and stock air cooling with the Graphics card. also feel free to spec the WC setup and use a place holder for the GPU block.

(if a mod want to move this to hardware or overclocking and cooling or change the title to something more appropriately suited to the new nature of the thread, then feel free to)

Yeah but you're on an X38 board.

My IP35 Pro can run my Q9450 at 3.9ghz.

Hmmm, well since the X38 is merely the P35 with bells on, you'd expect it to clock further/perform better, no? Meh, I might get a DFI X48 if I can be arsed, haven't been enraptured by this board.

It clocks 65nm quads further, but an awful lot of X38 boards won't go over 440-450mhz with the 45nm quads.

I sold my ASUS Maximus Formula X38 after 2 weeks and went back to the IP35 Pro because of it.

Interesting, I'll bear that in mind :)

Just what I plan for a video rig, (with 2 x 2 samsung F1´s in raid o), I have
the Thermalright Ultima-90I, and 2 x 1G OCZ 6400 4-4-4-15,. what kind of
speed could I expect ? ,... and will the cooler fit the board ?
(Got air-ducts, good flow, willing to lap, and moderate ram-settings is OK)

thanks for any answer

But also bear in mind if your going xfire in any form, the P35 doesn't work that well with it, due to the lane restrictions.
Thats why I got rid of my P35 after one day and swapped to X38 for the dual 16X PCI-E slots.
I am very happy with my X38 does 480FSB with my 45nm Quad. and my xfire works really well.
We all know that all boards are not equal, always gonna be some rubbish ones.
I must say my P35 was a great board for clocking, dual and quad, tested both in short time I had it, got up to 530FSB with my dualies, but my mem wouldn't go any further.

Your memory may be your limiting factor. If you loosen its timings to 5-5-5-15 you may be able to get over 3.6ghz.
