Intel® Core™ i7-3930K Processor

Anyone got one of these and clocking it yet or know any stories or links etc from someone who has ???

(try and forget the price for a minute as I think in my opinion the price of these will drop like a stone in water because of the other intel cpu getting released in not so long).

hmmm, interesting, sounding good guys, thanks for the comments so far and any more would be appreciated too if anyone cares to comment :)

Its looking from me what I have read so far that these are the cpu's to go for rather than the 2700K etc, well maybe hopefullly when the price drops like a brick in water, lol, I really do see the price of these plummitting quickly because the ivy bridge is just about to be released, plus the fact they are way way cheaper in the usa as compared to the UK, so I think you can see what I am hoping happens very quickly, lol.
 
Kicking my thread back to life here...

Just hit me straight man, is the i7-3930K Processor a far better cpu than the i7 2700K for everything, even if its overclocking, gaming and/or everything, forget the price, I am just asking the question I am asking ??

If the answer is yes the 3930k is way better than the 2700k then I want to ask another question in that case, is or will the 3930K be a heavy contender for the ivy bridge or will the ivy bridge blow the 3930k out of the water, and is the ivy still due for march, and still for a price very similar to what the 2700K is now ?

Thats a few questions, lol, just hope some people can answer, I'm getting desperate here sitting waiting and the money is burning a hole in my pocket, lol, dont get wrong, I cant go mad with the money, I am just gambbling on the 3930k price dropping like a stone etc as the ivy bridge is only weeks away now if the stories are true, but will the ivy stand up to all the gossip about it or is it all just hype, thats another thing I would hate to be waiting on and then find its better to buy one of the available cpus now.

Is it worth the extra £200? No, well not unless you really need the extra 4 threads for encoding and rendering, in which case the quad Chan memory would come in handy too.

Sb-e prices wont drop on launch of 1155 ivy, different socket, can't see sb-e price drops until ib-e gets a release.

If you're just an average user, look at a 2500k, still a fast chip and the money you save can be put towards a nice ssd or something.

So thats a kind of yes/no answer, lol.

It is better but it isnt, well not unless you do lots of encoding and rendering, I think i understand.

At the end of the day I was just wanting to know, for a new build that I wish to remain a pretty good system for another 3 years, is it best to go for the 3930k as an all rounder, or the 2700k or defo wait on the ivy ?

I am just what you would call a normal user, watch HD movies, play graphic hungry games which I already have the AMD 6990 for and just all the other normal stuff, I dont use the pc for engineering CAD software and things like that if thats what you mean, plus I dont even convert movies nowdays, everything goes straight onto the screen or onto a media box and played direct etc .

Hope thats made it a bit clearer.

I dont see many guys at all talking about the 3930k and clocking it etc, so with that it keeps making me thinking that its a big no-no, I could be wrong though.;)
