Intel retail CPU RMA - quick question

Very quick question - has anyone got any recent experience of sending CPUs back to Intel under RMA?

I've been sent an email asking me to send back my faulty CPU to them for replacement. The email seems to be a generic warranty replacement form as it talks about accessories, etc in the context of motherboards, etc.

If sending back a retail CPU so I send back the whole thing including the heatsink and fan? I don't want to end up just getting a replacement CPU in a plain box with no HSF because ultimately I'll be selling the replacement CPU on...

Thanks!

Send everything back - they will replace your retail CPU with a sealed retail boxed CPU.

i'd check the site/terms and conditons carefully becuase when i have RMA'd a few things, they ONLY send back the faulty item and NOT the accessories

i dont know how intel do things, but i;d double check on the site/warranty info :)

The email says not to send back accessories, but the email seems to one that is sent for all of Intels products (which would include motherboards which would have accessories, etc).

- Return ONLY the products approved for return as noted in the product list above.
VERY IMPORTANT: Keep all accessories with you; we do not guarantee return of unauthorized parts. Intel will not be responsible for keeping any parts or accessories that are not included in this order.
I've got the retail box with the (unused) heatsink/fan, I can just send the whole retail box back but I don't want to if I'm not going to get the same back.

A couple of years ago i had to RMA a retail E8600.
You do have to send back both the CPU and the fan. At some point they would have asked you for the serial number of the fan ? The reason for this is so that they can tell if you are trying to claim an RMA for an OEM cpu.
They will send you a brand new sealed retail cpu.
I found the whole process fast and painles, Intel even aranged for a courier to pick it up.

Hmmmm What happens if you don't have the stock heatsink nor the retail box? My CPU is definitely dodgy now but since I've had this CPU since December I've got rid of the stuff I don't need...
