until i can nab myself an aftermarket cooler is it worth striping the thermal material from the stock cooler and replacing it with AS5?

note i already own AS5 and thermal material remover.

cheers

well if its going to be a while before you get the aftermarket then probably... although if you have one on order I wouldnt bother

no i haven't got one on order and tbh it'll not be for a few weeks yet (expensive month..damn birthdays). i really want to save for a gpu water cooler so it'l need to last around 8-12 weeks. Thanks for the heads up, nothing is worse than cleaning that crap wax off yer cpu :S

well if you are happy to run @ stock or a little over then the stock cooler and paste should be fine... I cant see the AS5 making much more than 5c difference to temps once its bedded in (which takes 200hours) so pros and cons..

its a 6400 i got 2nd hand thats been clocked to 3.4 before, only going for around a 2.8 clock out of it, so i kinda need something a little bit more robost cooling.
