Intel Stock fan ok for component check?

Hey guys, getting the rest of my computer (minus NH-D14) tomorrow and i wanted to check if its ok to stick the stock HSF on to check all the parts work?

Not going to overclock it until the NH-D14 turns up, just check i have no DOA parts.
 
It's designed to cool the CPU at the CPUs designated settings, of course it's ok....

Personally I'd just wait for the D14 anyway and do the complete build in one go.

Hey LateX'Dog,

Are you asking if its ok to boot up the system using the supplied retail HSF on the processor?

If you are then the answer is yes? . . . if not then please explain what you mean? :D

Seriously, so you can see the benefits of your new cooler, and to make sure everything is fine.

Yes when the new cooler arrives you will need to fit the backplate to the motherboard, but it's only 9+pci brackets screws to undo and unplug your gpu whilst you fit it (helps if you have modular cables and a big case). :D

I wasnt very clear last night sorry.

Basically i have all the components for my new system, just not the Noctua NH-D14 cooler.

But i want to put the parts together to make sure they are all working. So i was just making sure that the cooler supplied in the retail boxed Intel i7 930 is enough just to power it up and make sure there working. No overclocking or gaming. Just operating system installation and other checks.
 
Perfectly fine. Even if you want to try out some gaming to see what your new hardware can do then its still fine. Its cabable of running the cpu at stock for pretty much everything. They wouldnt ship it with it if it didnt. OCing and putting it in the shower are pretty much the only no no's.

Its not going to keep everything as cool as the aftermarket one but it will still keep it safe. The stock cooler will keep your temps around the same level or there abouts under load as an aftermarket one will after a full overclock under load (give or take a bit obviously)
