I am in need of some expert opinions. Been having lots of raid issues since setting up my new rig but I have narrowed it down to the drivers I was using.

So here is the question, do I use the latest drivers on the Asus website or do I need to install the full Intel Storage Manager software which seems to include a later driver?

Can't seem to find the latest Intel ICH10r driver on its own, you have to install the storage manager.

What does the intel software actually do? Do I really need it?

Can enable write back cache with the intel software which improves the speed of the drive.not sure its thats just a raid thing though!

What drives you using?

There are huge problems with larger drives on this board

I had to get a raid card to get 2x Samsung 1TB F1s to work in raid 1. Any time data was written to them the whole sysem would just freeze :(

Thanks for your comments but I am using a P5Q not a P5K so I don't think that applies to me.

I am still unable to understand what the storage manager software actually does. After I installed it before I did a reinstall it changed my raid status during post to "Initializing".
