How accurate is it? Does it under estimate much? The reason I ask is that while running Orthos 8K FFT, the 2 cores are hitting 40 each. Is it ecven the right test in orthos?

It wont work for you because you are on Vista 64, i haev *** same problem here.

spireite: Why use Orhos? Why not just stress test with TAT. It will give you a max temp reading, more than any otehr programme can. As for temps i've always found it to be extremly accurate, you can always check it with core temp to find your temps. Between the 2 of them they will give you a accurate reading fo what your temps are.

Purely because everyone seems to use it as well as TAT. Using TAT, with Workload level on 100%, both cores seem to max at 42/43C

TAT will cause the CPU to work harder than any other programme can as its designed to test all aspects of the CPU at once. So if that is what temps are being shown then that is the temp of the CPU.

I have not heard of TAT reading temps wrong by anything more than 2 degrees, so worse case add 2 degrees and sorted.

What is your system like anyway? And are you overclocking?
System is as in sig - unless you meant something else. Used to run an Shuttle with an Ath64 3500 and GF6800, so this new box is quite an upgrade.

I've not even attempted to clock it yet..... I'll give it a try
