So it turns out they've removed the advanced features from 8.1 network drivers for the Pro 1000 PT. This means you can't set up teaming 
Looks like my options are either get 2x 1000CT adapters or shell out for an i350-t2.
Unless someone knows a sure fire way to trick other drivers into working?
I've tried forcing the wrong driver on to it, but I get an issue after creating the team that it is always in the 'disabled' state.
