Just seen this on the register:
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/02/26/intel_altera_chip_deal/

Intel clearly have fab capacity to spare, especially if it is offering 14nm tech to Altera

Building new generations of chip manufacturing plants is becoming more and more expensive, and Intel has said in the past it was willing to open its facilities to carefully selected customers - as long as doing so does not its help competitors.

Who else could possibly benefit from this? Would Nvidia be too much of a competitor, or would it give them options other than TSMC? maybe Intel could get them better yields?
