Selection of new chips for the third quarter of 2008:

  • Core 2 Quad Q9650, a 3GHz Yorkfield-based 45nm CPU with 12MiB L2 cache and 1,333MHz FSB - $530
  • Core 2 Quad Q9400, a 2.66GHz Yorkfield-based 45nm CPU with 6MiB L2 cache and 1,333MHz FSB - $266
  • Core 2 Duo E8600, a 3.33GHz Wolfdale-based 45nm CPU with 6MiB L2 cache and 1,333MHz FSB - $266
  • Core 2 Duo E7300, a 2.66GHz Wolfdale-based 45nm CPU with 3MiB L2 cache and 1,066MHz FSB - $133

well im sticking with q6600 as it handles everything till nahelm.

 sindwinder how long you were a member in this forums 141k post

Not quite.

The Q9400 will be cheaper than the Q9550 will be, and the Q9550 will be the same price as the Q9450 is now (~£225).

yeah i know mate, it was a joke refering to how much more we pay than the yanks. I thought the wink would be enough to signify that my post was slightly sarcastic

OCuk does auctions to make money for charity, highest bidder gets the donated posts( anyone can donate however many of there posts).

Sidewinder bid highest for the posts and got them.

Ah I see. I thought he had literally just 'bought' them for the sake of it! LOL. :p

Not that I would buy one, but I notice the Q9550 has been long overdue practically everywhere, it doesnt give me much confidence in seeing the refresh cpu's on time either.

I think this is down to the 45nm fab plants:
Intel is to spend $1-1.5bn upgrading its Rio Rancho, New Mexico plant, Fab 11X, to produce 45nm processors, the chip giant said yesterday. Output will commence in H2 2008.

Intel's 45nm transistion centres on plants D1D and Fab 32 located in, respectively, Oregon and Arizona. These are the fabs that will punch out Penryn, the company's 45nm microarchitecture later this year, with the first desktop chips coming to market early 2008.

During H1 2008, Fab 28, in Israel, will begin producing 45nm products. And now we know Fab 11X will follow it in the second half of the year.

Quoted from another thread but it relates to this one.
Yorkfield quad and Wolfdale dual core price cut and the new 3GHz Q9650 on the way :)

Heres me hoping for a Q9650 clocking at 4.2GHz :D
I guess those prices don't include VAT & probally add on UK greed onto retail price, I'll wait till then to buy a Q9550, it's too much of a price jump for the Q9650 it should jump in price to £220ish then it would be worthy of purchase.

Q9650 - £320 inc Vat. (x9 locked multi)
Q9550 - £188 inc Vat.
Q9450 - £159 inc Vat.

Q6600 - £121 inc Vat.

E8600 - £157 inc Vat. (x10 locked multi)
E8500 - £109 inc Vat.
E8400 - £96 inc Vat.

Sigh here we go again, no they are the resllers buy price near enough, as such the 8600 will be the same price as the 8500 is now.

These prices are never retail prices and do not include dealer margin and vat. (also will depend on the exchange rate at the point the dealer buys from the distributor).
