Currently running Win10 and a downloaded Intel Turbo boost that sits in my system tray. I can select thresholds, older single thread programs I want to get boosted etc. All seems fine, seen my CPU hit 4Ghz too.

Now I read Windows has it built in and is downloaded in updates if not ?. My Turbo Boost is still running, no other boost app appears to have been downloaded ??. Anyone seen this new version and does it give you any options like mine does ?

Huh? You don't need to download anything. It's on the CPU side if it boosts or not, depending on workload, temps, power usage, etc.

What exactly did you download and where from?

It certainly made my processor boost to 4Ghz when it didn't before !. Looking at the app now, lists cores by 'performance' too (max turbo frequency), my core1 being the best, core0 the worst (directs chosen applications to the higher performance cores)...

Does it look like this? https://en.wikichip.org/wiki/intel/turbo_boost_max_technology

In that case I can see how it can boost performance, it basically picks the best cores to boost with. From a quick Google the one that gets downloaded is exactly the same, so if you already have it installed, you already have the Windows update "installed". It's not a newer version but the same one.

That's it.... I'd be concerned the windows update version takes away control from users hence some older programs won't automatically get the max boost :-(
