intel turbo boost?

have a core i7 laptop (its a low powered version of a i7 processor) and never really had a laptop with one of them before, but the intel turbo boost feature i've been reading about interests me.

do i need to do anything or install anything to get it working under win7?

You shouldn't have to - my laptop (i7 1.6) came with Intel's turbo boost monitor side bar gadget that shows you it dynamically clocking.

It's here if you don't have it.

just installed that, started up football manager (quite processor intensive) but its stuck at 2ghz still and the bar hasnt moved on that monitor.

oddly it was a setting in the power management profile relating the the speed of the fan that stopped it from ramping the processor speed up, even if i set the cpu speed setting to highest, it wouldnt do it unless the fan was set to max performance.

weird, but problem solved.
