Intel Turbo Memory

Hi mate well i had one fitted to my lappy but i didn't notice a massive difference tbh, depends if you can get hold of one now.
but if you can get one cheap enough then why not.

I have an 8gb sd card coming for my laptop to split 50/50 between readyboost and document backup. Does this effectively do the same thing as readyboost but built in, or is it something else?

well this is what TM is supposed to do:

" Intel® NAND Flash Memory, working with the Microsoft Windows Vista* ReadyBoost* and ReadyDrive* technologies, adds a new low-latency, non-volatile memory cache between the system memory and the hard drive. This enables fast access to critical data and applications.

Fast application load times, hibernation and resume
Fast overall application responsiveness
Fast boot time
Quick access to frequently used applications and/or files from User Pinning
Enhanced data loss protection using RAID 1, 5 and 10 "

But its not as good as it should have been, readyboost is a similiar thing take a look around web for a more accurate explaination and other opinion's

Personally I didn't feel inclined to spend the extra money for turbo memory as from what I have heard it provides no noticable/significant advantages as of yet.

Depending on the laptop you are using (I have a dell M1730) you may find that the turbo memory doesn't even get used - apparently, if the M1730 has a RAID drive configuration, it will not use the Turbo memory.

Not sure if this true for non-M1730 laptop's, but consider that, if you are seeing not seeing an improvement, and you have got RAID, that *mgiht* be why

Since installing it in my Samsung R560 I have noticed bootup times to be\\ much quicker. Whitout the turbocache when the desktop (Vista) used to appear it would then load up each startup program, you could tell this by each icon in the startup bar appearing one by one after being loaded. With the turbocache its all already loaded when the desktop appears.
