Not sure if a thread has already been started, but this would suggest (if true) that Intel have conceeded in their quest to drive AMD out of the market and are taking new steps to make leaps in the market.

Given their history, I'd like Samsung to refuse assistance, but they're probably getting well paid for it.

Intel has allegedly found a solution, or at least part of one, for its long-running supply issues with CPUs – which the firm admitted would be ongoing in a recent statement – and that solution is to enlist Samsung to help make more chips.

This is according to Pulse News Korea (as highlighted by Tech Powerup), and as ever with rumors, we need to tread with caution – although in the aforementioned statement, Intel did specifically state that “we are increasing our use of foundries … to produce more Intel CPU products” (as well as Intel expanding its own manufacturing capacity).

The title is kinda misleading.

This isn't doing anything to help Intel with it's performance woes. This is trying to help the chip shortage for business desktops and laptops.

Intel isn't keeping up with AMD and Samsung won't change that, AMD isn't really competing in the areas where Intel has a supply shortage right now, Intel is trying to keep up with itself

I didn’t think Samsung had enough 14nm facilities left to help intel though kinda surprising news not that intel is asking for help but that the fab process has moved on to 7nm at Samsung I would have thought it was a lot of work to go backwards

It's definitely keeps things interesting. Even though AMD appears to be doing well Intel is so big by comparison they will catch up. I'm hoping that AMD will just amass enough cash to be able to keep competing once Intel is back up to speed.

I'm just loving the pace of change now, it's been too static for too long.

That’s a very sensible way of looking at it. Like many others here I’m a fully signed up Ryzen man and can’t see myself ever going back but we are a microcosm on these boards and the flippant side of me sometimes wonders if intel have even heard of AMD so great is the size/sales difference.

True, Intel is a giant compared to AMD so they really need all the sale they can get to continue their momentum.
Competition is really good for us since it lowers prices and accelerates development of new technologies.
