Guys, going to build a new rig from scratch. At present i use a small laptop.

I am lost as to whether to go AMD or Intel.

Now, i am not a big gamer these days but would be interested in occasional gaming but no interested in high fps etc. Integrated GPU would be fine for me.

I have been an Intel man for years now. I see that Intel has a great following. Would i be wise to go for an i5 with HD 5500 graphics?

I did make a thread in the Small Form Forum but not sure if i will go that route now. I have to decide on a good CPU / Mobo combo. I do lean towards Intel. AMD 10 looks sweet but i am so confused.

Budget, i cant afford to spend £100s on these components but i am open to suggestions.

I will be building from scratch!!

Probably around £200 - £250 for CPU and Mobo. Trying to build for approx £400 max. Got SSD already.

I notice that the AMD Kaveri A10-7850K is approx £50 cheaper than a Skylake i5-6400 2.70GHz

runs nicely I do have a gpu installed though and depending on the game it runs 60+ fps its never dropped below this apart from running firestrike benchtest.

a cheap 2nd hand gpu could be installed and you would have some good bang for youre buck.
Ive came from an AMD fx8350 sadly ive not managed to test them back to back as the 8350 had died but it certainly feels faster.

I would like to go to the skylake cpu next year. I bought the 4690k the now mainly as the 8350 had died and I wanted to build a system for my son. I had been using an old 1090t on my sabertooth after the 8350 died. my sons using this now I have the 4690k up and running. hopefully the 8350 will get replaced then Ill put that back into the sabertooth and ill do a comparison between the 2.

Yea, Skylake seems like the way forward and the Intergrated GPU on it seems really nice.

I wont go full ATX. Maybe mATX and just maybe ITX.
